Photographing my family’s journey through time is my joy. This is not limited to my children. Oh no. As my parents, brother, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, dogs and family gardens can attest, there will be photos.
These people are my passion. Their stories are my manna and their love is my backbone. As a photographer I want to contribute to our understanding of being and that means marking what we did, how we looked, and how we live.
This month we were overjoyed to have my grandmother and aunt visit, which meant I got to do something I’ve been dreaming of doing for years: take portraits of my grandmother.
She’s the matriarch. She’s 92. She’s lived an amazing life. She is a wonder.
I will treasure this time, these photos.
And if you can, get your grandma in front of the camera, it will be a treasure for you too.
